The Ubuntu Climate Initiative is a growing community, rooted in the U.S. and connected globally, of African and Pan-Indigenous creatives, leaders, scholars, and allies. We are here to rebuild the sacred bonds between people, nature, and all living things, advancing eco-centered cultures and practices to confront the climate crisis with love and resilience.
We are reclaiming the ancestral knowledge and traditions of our Afro-descendent and Pan-Indigenous peoples, understanding that our greatest act of love is to nurture the regeneration of Mother Earth and heal our communities. In a world driven by consumption, we are weaving a new story—one that honors interdependence, cooperation, and harmony with all species.
We are a mycelial network of wisdom, talent, and deep-rooted connection. We’ve always been here, quietly holding space. Now, we rise—ready to guide, to heal, and to build a world that celebrates the beauty of our Oneness.
Ubuntu: an ancient African word meaning ‘humanity to others’, often translated as “I am Because You/We Are”
We are responding to the call from our ancestors to return balance to our environment. They tell us that all is not well. They are asking for our help to return our environment and our community to a state of harmony and balance. They tell us that it is NOT too late; the time is NOW.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” (African proverb)
